Just after midnight on Sunday, October 5, emergency crews were dispatched to the 1200 block of West Frey Street for a vehicle fire at the Blue Haven apartment complex in Stephenville.
Neighbors told Erath County Breaking News that they heard a loud explosion before stepping outside to find a black Ford pickup fully engulfed in flames. Stephenville Fire Department responded quickly to the scene, assisted by Stephenville Police and a state trooper, who helped evacuate residents from nearby apartments as a precaution.

The truck’s owner told our reporter that the vehicle had been out of the shop for only a few hours after having under glow lights installed earlier that day. He stated that there were no prior issues with the vehicle leading him to believe the fire was caused by electrical issues from the new lights. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, and no injuries were reported.
