Two found dead after reported shooting on Linda Lane; police say incident appears to be murder-suicide

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Two adult men were found dead late Tuesday night after Stephenville Police responded to a reported shooting in the 100 block of Linda Lane, according to a news release from the Stephenville Police Department.


Police said officers were dispatched at about 9:39 p.m. on Feb. 17, 2026 for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they located two adult males outside a residence who appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.


A preliminary investigation indicates the incident appears to be a murder-suicide, according to the department. Police also stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.


The department said the identities of the deceased are being withheld until next of kin notifications are completed. The case remains an active investigation.
