Selden Volunteer Fire Department assisted Bluff Dale Volunteer Fire Department and Erath County Volunteer Fire Rescue after reports of a structure fire. The blaze is believed to have started in the garage before spreading rapidly to the attached home, destroying the garage and heavily damaging the residence.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and all family members are safe. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

In the aftermath, officials confirmed the home belonged to Trooper Benjamin Lewis and his family. The Department of Public Safety Officers Association (DPSOA) has established a fund to help the family recover and rebuild following the total loss.

“We feel awful that this happened to Benjamin and his family. We are grateful for any support that the community is able to give,” - Jarrad Williams, President of DPSOA

According to DPSOA, 100% of all funds raised will go directly to the Lewis family to assist them during this difficult time.

Community members wishing to contribute can do so through the verified DPSOA donation page linked below.

The Erath County News encourages readers to support this local family as they begin the process of rebuilding their lives.
