A devastating fire erupted on Sunday at the intersection of Farm to Market 2156 and State Hwy 16, engulfing a family home and spreading across 120 acres of land, according to De Leon Fire Chief Byrl Cogburn. The event prompted a rapid response from multiple fire agencies, highlighting the collaborative efforts of local emergency services to tackle the fire effectively.

The fire began around 5pm after a lightning strike from an incoming storm, growing rapidly and leading to the destruction of at least two vehicles parked in the vicinity. Eyewitnesses reported thick clouds of smoke billowing into the sky, with visibility affected as the smoke could be seen from miles away. The quick spread raised concerns about the safety of nearby structures.
