STEPHENVILLE — A Santa Anna woman, Gracie Yates, was arrested early Sunday after a double fatal crash into a house at the S-curve off Ollie Street behind Wendy’s left two people dead, according to the Stephenville Police Department.
Captain Jeremy Lanier said officers responded at about 3:26 a.m. Sunday, March 22, to the 200 block of North Ollie Street near the intersection of North Ollie and West Green streets after receiving a report of a vehicle that had left the roadway and struck a residence.
When officers arrived, emergency personnel found multiple injured people at the scene. Two air ambulances were requested but shortly cancelled. Those injured were transported to Texas Health Resources in Stephenville by the Stephenville Fire Department and Erath County EMS.
Despite life saving efforts, two individuals, an adult woman and a juvenile boy, were pronounced dead, according to the press release.
Police identified the driver as Gracie Yates, 18. Yates was taken into custody and charged with two counts of criminally negligent homicide. She is currently being held at the Erath County Jail on a bond totaling $29,000.
Yates was recently arrested by the Brownwood Police Department in July 2025 on charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest, search or transport, according to jail records. The disposition of those charges was not immediately available.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information was being released Sunday.
The Stephenville Police Department said it was assisted at the scene by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Game Wardens and the Erath County Sheriff’s Office.
